The ‘Near Perfect’ Quarter Final

My heart was in my mouth when I watched the Belgium v USA game move into extra time on Tuesday, it would appear that Tim Howard was determined to prevent me from seeing a far more interesting QF than

Argentina v USA would have been. If you’d asked me at the start of the tournament who I wanted to see in my Quarter Final then I would have categorically said Argentina v Portugal, who wouldn’t want to see CR7 v Messi!!? But it wasn’t to be and after Portugal’s woeful World Cup campaign I was left to settle with Argentina v Belgium (not a bad plan B) although Switzerland scared the crap out of me when they almost won a unlikely victory against the Argies!

I obviously came to the World Cup to see these great teams but I’ll be honest I couldn’t wait to see some of the World’s best players in the flesh. I was fortunate enough to see Ronaldo try in vain to progress with Portugal, but I saw him score, quite unbelievable to actually see him to be honest, I saw Benzema, Pogba, Rooney,Joel Campbell, Barkley, and even my most hated player Pepe among many others. But I cannot tell you how excited I am to see that little Argentinian pit himself against Vertonghen, Kompany and Courtois!!!

Also the possibility that Brazil could play Argentina in the final is mouth watering, although I have to consider that I am here for 3 days after the final and if Brazil were to get there and lose, especially to Argentina, those 3 days will be spent in my apartment to avoid being killed or conscripted!!!
